Dreambert and Bedsmith, two Pi’illo creatures, wake up one morning with no memory of who they are, where they are, or how they got there. They find themselves in a strange house in an unfamiliar town, feeling lost and disoriented. Just as panic begins, a strange man named Wonky appears, claiming to be their father. He suggests that they must have fainted while watching TV the night before, but before he can explain further, the situation gets even stranger. A creature named Starlow, a Star Sprite, appears, claiming to be their friend. She says that they had plans to meet up, but Dreambert and Bedsmith have no memory of her or any such plans. They reluctantly follow Starlow outside, unsure of their surroundings. They wander the town, acting as if they do not recognize their surroundings or Starlow. Despite her confusion, Starlow continues to interact with them as if they had been friends for a long time. Showing them around the house, Starlow patiently explains their supposed friendship and names, trying to calm them down. Dreambert and Bedsmith, however, remain confused and unable to understand their past or their relationship with Starlow. As the day progresses, Starlow becomes increasingly concerned, initially thinking that they are simply pretending to forget. But as their strange behavior continues, she begins to worry that something is seriously wrong with their memories. By the end of the day, Starlow’s uncertainty deepens and she wonders if there is more to their forgetfulness. Dreambert and Bedsmith are sent back to the house they woke up in, and Wonky – still claiming to be their father – provides them with a bed that seems unfamiliar to them. Too tired and disoriented to protest, they go to bed. As they fall asleep, their minds fill with questions about their identities, their pasts, and the cause of their sudden amnesia. The mystery of their lost memories remains unanswered as they fall into a fitful sleep, unsure of what the future holds.
